This policy is being updated out-of-cycle to include and provide further clarification on the following:
1.Minors who are employed by or volunteering for the university do not fall under the youth protection program requirements;
2. Eligibility to supervise minors is determined by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). If they determine an individual is ineligible, the individual must appeal to DCF for eligibility;
3. Registration for youth programs is now submitted through the university’s new registration database, Squire, including requirements for program staff to complete training, volunteer service agreement (if applicable), and code of conduct attestation within Squire;
4. Requirements for camp insurance, SAFE forms, and a safety plan must be submitted for all youth programs that are required to follow the policy; and 5. Delineated investigative offices for violations or incidents depending upon the nature of the incident.
