Charge:

Description: The ad hoc committee is tasked with reviewing teaching evaluation methods from other universities that don’t rely on student perceptions, and proposing a new, unbiased approach for measuring effective teaching to the faculty senate. Additionally, the committee will recommend a revised set of objective questions for student evaluations to be used in 5-year reviews.

Outcome:

Resolutions 2024-2025-11, Evaluating Faculty Instruction, and 2024-2025-12, Approval of a Revised Student Perception of Instruction (SPI) Form, were written by this committee and approved by the Faculty Senate in spring 2025. Resolution 2024-2025-12 was subsequently approved by the provost, and the updated SPI form will take effect at the end of the fall 2025 semester. Resolution 2024-2025-11, however, was not approved by the provost.
