The Faculty Senate consists of eighty-five elected members from the general faculty. Eligible members are those employed by the University of Central Florida during the regular academic year, with their primary duties focused on the university’s academic mission: teaching, research, and academic service. The specific titles of these members are detailed in the Senate Bylaws. Senators participate in monthly senate meetings, serve on one or more of the faculty senate committees, and report back to faculty in their units as representatives of the senate.

2026-2027 Senate Officers

At the first meeting of the new Senate in April, the Senators’ initial task is to elect a chair, vice chair, and secretary from among the voting members by a majority vote. Each officer serves a one-year term, beginning immediately after the election. For a list of previous leaders, please visit Leaders of the Faculty Senate.
